49° North Mountain Resort
49° North Mountain Resort is well located as a destination ski and mountain resort. Situated in the heart of mountainous Northeastern Washington, it is approximately a one hour driving on well-maintained highways from its primary market of Spokane, Washington. 49° North Mountain Resort is about 30 minutes driving distance from the airport in Chewelah, Washington. There are two entrance roads that lead into the Resort, one access point from the west is off of Highway 395 (the main approach to Chewelah Peak from the Spokane region), the second access point from the east is off of Highway 20 (the main approach from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho region). The Resort’s site near highways 20 and 395 on North America’s only International Scenic Byway (the Selkirk International Loop) provides strong visibility and easy access.
The Resort contains old growth forests and alpine meadows. Its natural topography is excellent for skiing. The peaks and ridges of the Selkirk Mountains and the breathtaking views of the Pend Oreille River make excellent locations for home sites and lodging. The alpine terrain, above and below, provides both alpine and Nordic trails in the glacier-carved Chewelah Basin. Sunrise Basin is in the shape of a large “bowl,” with its upper rim forming excellent family friendly ridgeline ski trails. Sunrise Basin is accessed by a quad chair lift. 49° North Mountain Resort’s Development is adjacent to the existing quad lift.
